Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell has revealed that her brother Max died suddenly on Monday, aged 54.
Geri – who changed her surname from Halliwell – took to Instagram to share her grief on the loss of her older sibling.
“I’m devastated and heartbroken to announce that our beloved brother, father and best friend of 21 years, Max, passed away peacefully in his sleep last night,” she wrote.
Geri’s post continued: “Max was a beautiful man, an incredible father and husband and an inspiration to all who knew him. It would be impossible to put into words how much he was loved by his family and how much his presence will be missed.
“Thank you for all the kind messages you have been sending. My family and I will need some time to come to terms with this tragedy. All my love xx.”
Geri went on to ask that, out of respect for her family, comments on her Facebook and Instagram pages be kept to the minimum.
Max, who was Geri’s brother from her father Bobby’s marriage to Abigail Hussey, died in the Derbyshire town of Mexborough.
According to The Daily Mail, Max owned a day centre in the same city.
